special mention
Her works often speak of harmony with the environment and territorial identities, becoming fields in which man inhabits nature: vegetation often becomes the structure of the composition on which fairy and heterogeneous figures move, not without a taste for meanders and swirls that hark back to Arab decorative arts as to a certain European Middle Ages.
Marwa Zalila (1993) in Tunisia, where she lives and works. Graduate in Plastic arts. In 2022 she was included in the Plastic arts in Tunisia Exhibition: journey with the national fund (1850 — 2021) at the National Museum of modern and contemporary art in Tunis (Macam Tunis). She is a member of the Tunisian union of plastic artists and the Tunisian federation of plastic artists. Her works often speak of harmony with the environment and territorial identities, becoming fields in which man inhabits nature: vegetation often becomes the structure of the composition on which fairy and heterogeneous figures move, not without a taste for meanders and swirls that refer to Arab decorative arts as to a certain European Middle Ages, in which branches and shoots act as the very scanning of the hypothetical space of the work. Angels, flowers, butterflies, thorns, flying elephants, pregnant women, musicians, swings and birds used as airplanes, in an ironic and at times childish pastiche, dreamy but animated by fears and nightmares. Paradise, in particular, pushes this dreamy journey to the threshold of disturbance, composing the figures with X-ray cutouts.
