Marwan Nahlé is a Lebanese artist born in 1965. Painter,
sculptor, musician, he has lived and worked outside all borders
since 1988. He has exhibited his works in Lebanon and the
United States, as well as in Australia, France, Germany,
Jordan, Greece, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. In 2021 he
moved to Basilicata with his family to conduct an artistic
residency.
His paintings and assemblages are the precipitates of a
physical and at the same time spiritual journey in which the
experience of reality is accomplished through continuous
detachments and roots, in search of a level of perception
that goes beyond the impression. In his paintings, we find
echoes of all the paintings that, throughout history, have
sought to represent immensity and fathomlessness, vertigo
and disproportion, the sublime and transcendent, through
synthetic and allusive brushstrokes: a certain Pompeian
expressionism in the landscapes of the Fourth Style; the skies
and teeming human scenarios of 18th-century Vedutism; the
fumes and mists charged with the senses of Symbolism; the
swirling atmospheres of William Turner.
